Key takeaways
- Entrepreneurs need higher risk tolerance, stamina, and a burning desire to create, but not everyone is wired to be an entrepreneur and that's okay.
- Focus deeply on one task at a time in 60-90 minute chunks rather than multitasking to accomplish more in less time and avoid working excessive hours.
- Maintain high energy levels through healthy habits, exercise, and recharging breaks because without good health you waste time and can't perform at your best.
- Outsource tasks that aren't your core strengths and build a complementary team so you can focus on the high-priority areas that grow your business.
- Don't focus obsessively on the final result or deadline—focus on the journey, enjoy the process, learn from failures, and keep moving forward with your vision.

[01:47] SPEAKER_01: Wow, well, thanks very much, Phil. [01:49] SPEAKER_01: I'm absolutely thrilled to be here, [01:51] SPEAKER_01: and I must say, I really enjoy listening [01:53] SPEAKER_01: to this podcast, Siri. [01:54] SPEAKER_01: It's a great platform for budding entrepreneurs [01:57] SPEAKER_01: and existing entrepreneurs. [01:59] SPEAKER_01: So thank you for all your hard work to create. [02:01] SPEAKER_01: This great content. [02:02] SPEAKER_01: It's fantastic. [02:04] SPEAKER_01: But yes, my, my journey is, is unique as they all are. [02:09] SPEAKER_01: I've always been a little bit of an entrepreneur growing up. [02:11] SPEAKER_01: I always had my own small business, [02:14] SPEAKER_01: whether it was selling crafts or garage selling, et cetera. [02:18] SPEAKER_01: I had multiple interests. [02:19] SPEAKER_01: I was passionate about food and health. [02:21] SPEAKER_01: I had a scholarship to be a food scientist, actually. [02:24] SPEAKER_01: But my other passion of culture and language [02:28] SPEAKER_01: took over in university. [02:29] SPEAKER_01: I ended up doing my third year abroad in Germany [02:31] SPEAKER_01: and ended up with an arts degree. [02:34] SPEAKER_01: When I graduated back in the 90s, [02:37] SPEAKER_01: it was a bit of a recession, [02:38] SPEAKER_01: and it was hard to find a job. [02:41] SPEAKER_01: I had a short contract working for the Quebec government. [02:45] SPEAKER_01: And unfortunately, that experience, [02:47] SPEAKER_01: you know, working in a slower pace, [02:49] SPEAKER_01: a lot of disengagement and apathy in the office. [02:55] SPEAKER_01: And it was really hard to keep the motivation up. [02:58] SPEAKER_01: My boss laughed after one week. [03:00] SPEAKER_01: And I didn't know what to do. [03:01] SPEAKER_01: So I created my own job. [03:03] SPEAKER_01: And I realized I am much more of an entrepreneur [03:04] SPEAKER_01: suited at faster pace. [03:07] SPEAKER_01: I promptly looked for a role in Toronto, [03:10] SPEAKER_01: joined an executive search firm. [03:12] SPEAKER_01: And within a year, unfortunately, they went bankrupt. [03:14] SPEAKER_01: So one year at a university, [03:16] SPEAKER_01: I started global consulting group. [03:17] SPEAKER_01: And with my mother and father's wonderful support [03:20] SPEAKER_01: in one of the bedrooms converted, [03:23] SPEAKER_01: I started the company and never looked back. [03:25] SPEAKER_01: And so I had a lot of fun building it [03:28] SPEAKER_01: and was able to use all my languages. [03:30] SPEAKER_01: I have three, although it's hard to keep them up. [03:33] SPEAKER_01: And got some great clients, [03:35] SPEAKER_01: some great adventures along the way, [03:37] SPEAKER_01: built my team and, you know, [03:40] SPEAKER_01: diversified our product line in sectors over the years. [03:43] SPEAKER_01: So it's been a great ride. [03:44] SPEAKER_00: I spent a lot of time in recruitment [03:46] SPEAKER_00: in my early career as well. [03:48] SPEAKER_00: We probably were competing with each other. [03:50] SPEAKER_00: But that's another story. [03:52] SPEAKER_01: Yes. [03:53] SPEAKER_00: So you kind of did this. [03:55] SPEAKER_00: But, you know, what was the stock moment? [03:58] SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm always interested. [04:00] SPEAKER_00: You kind of covered it a little bit. [04:02] SPEAKER_00: What was the bottom of the stock moment when you decided [04:04] SPEAKER_00: I got to become an entrepreneur? [04:07] SPEAKER_01: Well, it always has been in me. [04:09] SPEAKER_01: I realized not everyone is wired to be an entrepreneur [04:13] SPEAKER_01: and that is okay. [04:14] SPEAKER_01: But for me, the freedom and flexibility, [04:17] SPEAKER_01: the creativity and the pace always drove me. [04:20] SPEAKER_01: So really, my whole life has been working as an entrepreneur. [04:24] SPEAKER_01: When the company went bankrupt, [04:26] SPEAKER_01: I remember back then I had recipe cards. [04:28] SPEAKER_01: So I'd been building my client base, [04:30] SPEAKER_01: writing them down diligently. [04:31] SPEAKER_01: I took them home and I told my parents. [04:33] SPEAKER_01: It was not even a second thought. [04:35] SPEAKER_01: I'm starting my company tomorrow. [04:37] SPEAKER_01: I'm incorporating. [04:38] SPEAKER_01: I'm going all out. [04:39] SPEAKER_01: This is going to be it. [04:40] SPEAKER_01: First, they were a bit. [04:41] SPEAKER_01: They looked at me like, are you sure? [04:42] SPEAKER_01: And then they knew me well enough to go, okay, let's go for it. [04:45] SPEAKER_01: So I never really looked back. [04:48] SPEAKER_01: And along the way, I've diversified my service offerings. [04:51] SPEAKER_01: I've done an innovate thing. [04:52] SPEAKER_01: We've started an RPO program, [04:53] SPEAKER_01: which is kind of a outsource recruitment. [04:56] SPEAKER_01: It's going fabulously. [04:58] SPEAKER_01: And a number of our other services coaching and wellness [05:01] SPEAKER_01: have happened organically within our client base, [05:04] SPEAKER_01: based on need and relationships we've built. [05:07] SPEAKER_00: So how do you maintain your focus? [05:09] SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, my experience of entrepreneurs are so busy. [05:14] SPEAKER_00: How do you kind of separate being busy from, you know, [05:18] SPEAKER_00: maintaining the focus that you need to succeed? [05:21] SPEAKER_01: It's a great question, Phil. [05:23] SPEAKER_01: And something I've struggled with over the years, [05:25] SPEAKER_01: also being a mother of two very active young boys [05:28] SPEAKER_01: and some of the other challenges in life. [05:31] SPEAKER_01: But I think having developed this ability to focus [05:35] SPEAKER_01: as a martial arts, I artist over the years. [05:37] SPEAKER_01: I mean, this intense focus, [05:38] SPEAKER_01: because people tell me it's one of those things about me. [05:41] SPEAKER_01: I'm able to get a lot done quickly [05:43] SPEAKER_01: and that real narrow focus. [05:46] SPEAKER_01: I think learning how to concentrate deeply on tasks [05:49] SPEAKER_01: and really improve output. [05:51] SPEAKER_01: And a lot of people now are juggling multiple tasks at once. [05:55] SPEAKER_01: They say now multitasking is actually not as effective [05:58] SPEAKER_01: as working on one task at a time. [06:01] SPEAKER_01: So I try to chunk my work into a 60 or 90-minute segment [06:04] SPEAKER_01: where I'm doing, for example, all business development. [06:06] SPEAKER_01: I'm responding only to emails. [06:08] SPEAKER_01: And I'm not going back and forth between tasks. [06:10] SPEAKER_01: And I finally get a lot more done that way. [06:13] SPEAKER_01: And I don't have to work as long hours. [06:15] SPEAKER_01: So for me, that really works well. [06:17] SPEAKER_00: How did you get past that, you know, [06:19] SPEAKER_00: that what I tell the entrepreneurial glass ceiling, [06:22] SPEAKER_00: where you end up spending 70 hours a week working? [06:26] SPEAKER_00: That's the execution side of it. [06:28] SPEAKER_00: You said you like to have some time [06:30] SPEAKER_00: and you've got your kids and everything else. [06:33] SPEAKER_00: How did you manage to do that? [06:34] SPEAKER_00: Because it's a real problem for entrepreneurs [06:37] SPEAKER_00: that I find anyway. [06:39] SPEAKER_01: You're right. [06:40] SPEAKER_01: And it's something, I mean, I do coaching as well. [06:42] SPEAKER_01: And I think at Teach People, number one, [06:45] SPEAKER_01: is you want to maintain high energy levels. [06:47] SPEAKER_01: If you're not healthy and you don't have good habits, [06:51] SPEAKER_01: you end up wasting a lot more time. [06:53] SPEAKER_01: So that's one thing. [06:54] SPEAKER_01: I make sure I have those healthy times in between work [06:58] SPEAKER_01: where I'm recharging my battery [07:00] SPEAKER_01: so that I don't waste time. [07:02] SPEAKER_01: I'm also prioritizing. [07:03] SPEAKER_01: A lot of stuff just doesn't need to get done right away. [07:07] SPEAKER_01: So you work on the things that, you know, [07:09] SPEAKER_01: that are a high priority for your business. [07:12] SPEAKER_01: Client, client needs are always first. [07:14] SPEAKER_01: You want to have excellent client relationships. [07:16] SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of things you can outsource too. [07:18] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I've learned to outsource [07:20] SPEAKER_01: and the costs relative to if you did them yourself. [07:24] SPEAKER_01: I think it's, there's a value to outsourcing where I needed. [07:26] SPEAKER_01: So I built a good team of people [07:28] SPEAKER_01: who can do the things that are complementary to me. [07:31] SPEAKER_01: So I can focus on the core areas that we need to grow the business. [07:35] SPEAKER_01: That's helped me save time as well. [07:37] SPEAKER_01: But it is a problem. [07:38] SPEAKER_01: And even now I'm not going to, I'm not going to, you know, [07:41] SPEAKER_01: the honestly, there are some times that I'm working those long hours. [07:44] SPEAKER_01: But other times I balance it back again. [07:47] SPEAKER_01: So I make sure I have a outlet every day. [07:49] SPEAKER_01: Like usually a couple of times a week. [07:51] SPEAKER_01: I swim on my lunch hours, a couple of times a week in the morning. [07:54] SPEAKER_01: I do a fitness or yoga class. [07:56] SPEAKER_01: So try to keep it really balanced. [07:58] SPEAKER_01: And I tend to get more done that way. [07:59] SPEAKER_01: Works for me anyways. [08:02] SPEAKER_00: Let's move to Toronto, which is what this is all about. [08:06] SPEAKER_00: What are the biggest benefits for you [08:07] SPEAKER_00: for being an entrepreneur in Toronto? [08:10] SPEAKER_00: You know, why are you here? [08:11] SPEAKER_00: Why not somewhere else? [08:13] SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I'm an absolute fan of Toronto. [08:16] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I love Toronto. [08:18] SPEAKER_01: I grew up, I was born in Sudbury on Terrile, [08:20] SPEAKER_01: but moved to North TTA when I was still very young. [08:24] SPEAKER_01: My father was a mechanical engineer and traveled here. [08:28] SPEAKER_01: And, you know, the opportunities were here. [08:29] SPEAKER_01: So I have a great friend base here, [08:32] SPEAKER_01: although now friends, you know, they go across Canada [08:35] SPEAKER_01: and we keep in touch. [08:35] SPEAKER_01: But excellent associations for some of our key sectors [08:39] SPEAKER_01: in IT and engineering, real estate and the healthcare sector. [08:45] SPEAKER_01: You know, I do speaking engagements here. [08:47] SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's just even the Toronto Film Festival. [08:50] SPEAKER_01: The arts here are phenomenal. [08:51] SPEAKER_01: I like to support that. [08:52] SPEAKER_01: Toronto is a great city. [08:54] SPEAKER_01: So I feel really lucky to be a, have a business here. [08:58] SPEAKER_01: And I find I was very fortunate to be able to purchase a house [09:03] SPEAKER_01: on the main street of Marcom and converted into a commercial property. [09:08] SPEAKER_01: So that'll, that has been a great value ad having that piece of real estate [09:11] SPEAKER_01: under my belt as a business owner too. [09:15] SPEAKER_00: Is there a place in Toronto or close to the city, [09:18] SPEAKER_00: which is where you live? [09:19] SPEAKER_00: That you'd like to reach out, you know, get inspired? [09:23] SPEAKER_01: Yes. [09:24] SPEAKER_01: Well, for me, I mean, I was forward my father [09:27] SPEAKER_01: passed away, unfortunately, a few years ago. [09:29] SPEAKER_01: A wonderful man and a really great carpenter as well as an engineer. [09:33] SPEAKER_01: So I inherited the cottage. [09:36] SPEAKER_01: So I love to go up north and putter away just like he did and work on things [09:39] SPEAKER_01: with my kids and partner. [09:41] SPEAKER_01: And also I like to run in, I like to get into the forest. [09:46] SPEAKER_01: I mean, Durham, I live in actually in Durham, which is just outside. [09:50] SPEAKER_01: So I spend time in the forest there and also in my community by the lake. [09:54] SPEAKER_01: And I'm not an avid gardener, but I'm a budding gardener. [09:59] SPEAKER_01: So learning as I go every year, we expand our vegetable garden. [10:02] SPEAKER_01: So I like to spend time in the garden as well. [10:04] SPEAKER_01: I find that really a great recharge. [10:07] SPEAKER_00: What is the first hour of your day look like? [10:10] SPEAKER_00: You know, when is it, when is that first hour? [10:13] SPEAKER_00: Do you have a routine? [10:14] SPEAKER_00: I'm always interested to find out what people's routines are. [10:17] SPEAKER_01: Yes. [10:18] SPEAKER_01: Well, for me, I mean, because I have two very active boys, [10:22] SPEAKER_01: 12 and 11, first hour is kind of getting up, hustling up breakfast, feeding the cats, [10:29] SPEAKER_01: you know, getting lunches going. [10:30] SPEAKER_01: I must confess that I am, although I'm extremely high energy people say, [10:35] SPEAKER_01: I'm not an early riser. [10:36] SPEAKER_01: It's not natural for me. [10:38] SPEAKER_01: So usually my youngest son has to prod me to get up. [10:41] SPEAKER_01: Mommy, get up, get up. [10:43] SPEAKER_01: So he's the early riser. [10:45] SPEAKER_01: Right from there, it's full steam ahead. [10:47] SPEAKER_01: In the mornings, I usually talk to my team, you know, get our focus for the day. [10:50] SPEAKER_01: What are our priorities? [10:52] SPEAKER_01: Usually within the first hour that happens. [10:54] SPEAKER_01: If I'm driving to work, then I'm listening to a great podcast or one of my books, [11:00] SPEAKER_01: my audio books, which I love to do. [11:03] SPEAKER_01: If I'm working from home, which I do, then I often start my day with a fitness class [11:07] SPEAKER_01: that gets my energy going and exercises so good for, you know, everything, [11:13] SPEAKER_01: just confidence, et cetera. [11:14] SPEAKER_01: So that's usually my first hour. [11:15] SPEAKER_01: And then it's non-stop after that. [11:17] SPEAKER_01: Literally a flying, everything to break in. [11:21] SPEAKER_00: You know, you kind of talked about this, you know, being on to be does being wired differently. [11:27] SPEAKER_00: Now, you're being in recruitment. [11:28] SPEAKER_00: You see a lot of people, any insights on how we wired differently. [11:34] SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I wanted to say because a number of years ago, I switched, [11:38] SPEAKER_01: you know, I built other divisions within my company and I didn't do that for no reason. [11:42] SPEAKER_01: And I have a degree, but I went back to school to become a registered holistic nutritionist [11:47] SPEAKER_01: and got certified as a emotion television strainer because there was so much happening [11:52] SPEAKER_01: not only in my life, but with people coming to me who are seeking jobs [11:56] SPEAKER_01: who were breaking down, who were stressed out, who are facing chronic illness. [12:00] SPEAKER_01: So I switched gears to become more diversified and also started coaching. [12:06] SPEAKER_01: And when I meet people who are building their own company, [12:09] SPEAKER_01: some people are just, they're not suited for being an entrepreneur and they realize that very quickly. [12:15] SPEAKER_01: But other people are and there's not one way or the other. [12:18] SPEAKER_01: So I'm just saying not everyone is built to be an entrepreneur. [12:21] SPEAKER_01: But for me, it was a driving need to be an entrepreneur. [12:25] SPEAKER_01: I've always been driven and passionate. [12:27] SPEAKER_01: And I think entrepreneurs have a higher risk tolerance for sure. [12:31] SPEAKER_01: We have a higher need for self-actualization to put our own stamp on things. [12:36] SPEAKER_01: And I think we like to control the process and be in charge. [12:40] SPEAKER_01: I think a little bit more. [12:41] SPEAKER_01: Entrepreneurs can accept the risk. [12:45] SPEAKER_01: Maybe the failure. Maybe have a bit more stamina. [12:47] SPEAKER_01: And I think sometimes just have that burning desire to create things. [12:51] SPEAKER_00: I think resilience is a requirement for sure. [12:55] SPEAKER_00: Absolutely. [12:56] SPEAKER_01: But I haven't regretted a moment of it through all the ups and downs. [13:00] SPEAKER_01: And miss the failures and successes. [13:03] SPEAKER_01: It's been a great, great journey for me. [13:05] SPEAKER_01: I love it every second of it. [13:07] SPEAKER_00: So here's the question. [13:08] SPEAKER_00: What books are you reading or audio books? [13:11] SPEAKER_00: Because you said you like to listen to audio books. [13:13] SPEAKER_00: And what would you recommend it? [13:15] SPEAKER_00: So does currently amongst those. [13:18] SPEAKER_01: So for me, I am a voracious reader like a lot of people. [13:23] SPEAKER_01: I mean, voracious maybe, but I love reading. [13:26] SPEAKER_01: It goes in spits and starts. [13:27] SPEAKER_01: But recently I've read, I read, listened to 12 rules for life by Jordan Peters. [13:31] SPEAKER_01: And I thought it was an excellent book. [13:34] SPEAKER_01: Daring greatly, Renee Brown, was good, really good. [13:39] SPEAKER_01: And mastery, Robert Green is a great book to listen to. [13:42] SPEAKER_01: If you want to become an entrepreneur, you want to build something. [13:45] SPEAKER_01: I thought it's a great book. [13:46] SPEAKER_01: Classic. [13:47] SPEAKER_01: I listened to the alchemist, Paulo Cuello. [13:50] SPEAKER_01: I love books on personal transformation. [13:52] SPEAKER_01: And I'm also interested in fantasy and sci-fi. [13:56] SPEAKER_01: When I'm not reading, I'd love to watch Game of Thrones. [13:58] SPEAKER_01: I'm a big fan of that series. [14:01] SPEAKER_01: Wow, that last show was excellent. [14:04] SPEAKER_01: So I'm very diverse in my reading. [14:06] SPEAKER_01: And obviously, garden books, nutrition books, health books. [14:09] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I have a really wide range of books that I'm interested in. [14:13] SPEAKER_01: But for business leaders, I think those ones I recommend are good. [14:17] SPEAKER_01: And I also like Dan Goldman, who coined the term emotional intelligence. [14:21] SPEAKER_01: He wrote a great book on focusing, which is good for entrepreneurs, [14:25] SPEAKER_01: focus getting in the zone. [14:26] SPEAKER_01: And when I'm doing training, I often recommend that book to people. [14:30] SPEAKER_00: If you weren't doing what you do now, what would you like to do for a profession? [14:35] SPEAKER_01: Well, that's another great question. [14:38] SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I've always been good in sales and fell into recruitment and never looked back. [14:42] SPEAKER_01: And I had great adventures. [14:44] SPEAKER_01: But I think my passion over the last decade is turned, as I mentioned to speaking, training and coaching. [14:50] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I went through a decade where I lost my mother, my father, I even lost my husband. [14:57] SPEAKER_01: Chronic illness and also while raising two children. [15:01] SPEAKER_01: And so I realize there's a lot of ways we can prevent things and help people to lean healthier and happier lives. [15:08] SPEAKER_01: So I really love to get more involved in speaking and podcasting. [15:12] SPEAKER_01: So it's something that I love to do, so I'd love to get more involved in that too. [15:17] SPEAKER_00: So the opposite, what kind of job wouldn't you like to do? [15:21] SPEAKER_01: Oh, geez. There's a lot of them. [15:23] SPEAKER_01: I know my first experience out there, I like meaning, purpose. [15:30] SPEAKER_01: And I'm extremely motivated and driven. [15:32] SPEAKER_01: Any job I ever had is a temp. [15:34] SPEAKER_01: I'd be like, I get it done. What's next? [15:37] SPEAKER_01: I'm master this. What's next? [15:38] SPEAKER_01: So I love to learn. [15:40] SPEAKER_01: I love to be valuable and useful. [15:42] SPEAKER_01: So I need a job where I'm helping something, you know, something actually for a better cause or better reason. [15:49] SPEAKER_01: So I mean, there's a lot of jobs that just don't suit me. [15:53] SPEAKER_01: I know customer service as well would be one where I probably would end up saying something that I'm freaking. [16:00] SPEAKER_00: I've been told that quite candidly. [16:04] SPEAKER_01: But I do admire. I'm always nice to people who call me even, you know, anyone. [16:08] SPEAKER_01: Because I know that's tough. [16:10] SPEAKER_00: So in business, you know, what's your favorite word? [16:13] SPEAKER_00: What do you like your favorite expression? [16:17] SPEAKER_01: Well, I have a lot of historical figures who I really admire. [16:23] SPEAKER_01: People like Leonardo da Vinci ahead of their time, Benjamin Franklin. [16:26] SPEAKER_01: And of course, having studied German literature, Guta. [16:29] SPEAKER_01: And there's expression that I love that Guta says, I mean, he's an amazing man. [16:34] SPEAKER_01: At the moment of commitment, the universe conspires to assist you. [16:39] SPEAKER_01: So I think when you really want something and you go all in and you focus and you believe in it, [16:44] SPEAKER_01: I think you can do amazing things. So I think that's a great quote for sure. [16:48] SPEAKER_00: How would you describe yourself in a couple of words? [16:52] SPEAKER_01: I am passionate, driven, focused and funny. [16:56] SPEAKER_01: I've been told I'm especially if I've had a glass of wine. [17:00] SPEAKER_01: Life is too important to take seriously. [17:03] SPEAKER_01: I always think. [17:05] SPEAKER_00: Well, I live in wine country. [17:07] SPEAKER_01: I love good food and good wine. [17:10] SPEAKER_01: Life is good. [17:13] SPEAKER_00: So what keeps you up at night? [17:14] SPEAKER_00: If anything, maybe it doesn't keep you up at night. [17:16] SPEAKER_01: Well, no, actually, I mean, as a registered holistic nutritionist as well, [17:20] SPEAKER_01: I've struggled with good sleep. [17:22] SPEAKER_01: And so when I'm coaching people, I always recommend magnesium. [17:25] SPEAKER_01: I have to give that nugget to people out there, entrepreneurs, because magnesium is a vital mineral. [17:31] SPEAKER_01: So important for our health. [17:32] SPEAKER_01: And a lot of people are deficient and it helps to sleep better. [17:35] SPEAKER_01: So I have struggled with sleep because I am. [17:38] SPEAKER_01: I have a very active mind. [17:40] SPEAKER_01: I juggle multiple businesses. [17:41] SPEAKER_01: So, but the thing that has kept me up the most in my life as a, you know, [17:47] SPEAKER_01: is a woman as well as conflict is that people conflict and trying to solve it and trying to, you know, create harmony. [17:53] SPEAKER_01: And sometimes you can't, sometimes you can't. [17:56] SPEAKER_01: But I have learned in my career that particularly with clients and I have great clients now. [18:01] SPEAKER_01: But if it's not working, sometimes it's best to fire them, you know. [18:05] SPEAKER_01: And just go. [18:05] SPEAKER_01: It's one of the benefits of being an entrepreneur. [18:08] SPEAKER_00: Yes. [18:08] SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I've been blessed with wonderful friends, family, relationships. [18:12] SPEAKER_01: But usually the people side had to, had to help people become their best. [18:17] SPEAKER_01: That's what keeps me up. [18:18] SPEAKER_00: One of the top three things on your what we've inspired lifeless. [18:24] SPEAKER_01: What do you mean things I want to do? [18:26] SPEAKER_01: Yeah. [18:27] SPEAKER_01: Well, I really want to speak more. [18:29] SPEAKER_01: It's in me. [18:30] SPEAKER_01: I've been told I'm decent at it. [18:32] SPEAKER_01: So I'm building my speaking career. [18:34] SPEAKER_01: I've done a lot of speaking within my own sector in the recruitment sector. [18:38] SPEAKER_01: Been a keynote. [18:40] SPEAKER_01: And then just in the last year or two, I'm breaking into other verticals. [18:44] SPEAKER_01: Okay. [18:44] SPEAKER_01: Booked for different associations, health, whether it's sales, human resources, or leadership. [18:51] SPEAKER_01: So platforms and summits. [18:53] SPEAKER_01: So I'm really excited about that. [18:55] SPEAKER_01: And I am, you know, I want to be a great mother. [18:57] SPEAKER_01: That's really important to me as much as my business building to responsible. [19:01] SPEAKER_01: Resilient boys. [19:03] SPEAKER_01: That's a, you know, it's important. [19:04] SPEAKER_01: They're both competitive soccer players. [19:06] SPEAKER_01: So like me, I was. [19:07] SPEAKER_01: Okay. [19:08] SPEAKER_01: That's a big project. [19:10] SPEAKER_01: And then just, I do want to finish my next book. [19:13] SPEAKER_01: So I've started it. [19:14] SPEAKER_01: A book on resilience. [19:16] SPEAKER_01: I've tentatively called it a thrive mind or thrive. [19:18] SPEAKER_01: Real life and decided yet. [19:20] SPEAKER_01: But I'm hoping to have that completed by next year. [19:23] SPEAKER_00: If you have any advice that you that you've received that made a difference that you want to pass on to other entrepreneurs. [19:30] SPEAKER_00: I think, you know, this is, this is all about a community of entrepreneurs listening to each other and learning from each other. [19:38] SPEAKER_00: What would that jam be? [19:40] SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, it's, it's an amazing question. [19:43] SPEAKER_01: And not having thought about it too much. [19:46] SPEAKER_01: I, I mean, there's so much I could say, but really it's important to know yourself. [19:50] SPEAKER_01: Know your strengths, know your weaknesses. [19:53] SPEAKER_01: As an entrepreneur, you're going to fail. [19:55] SPEAKER_01: You're going to, you're going to make mistakes, accept that. [19:57] SPEAKER_01: Learn from it. [19:58] SPEAKER_01: Don't beat yourself up. [20:00] SPEAKER_01: And if you have a vision and you have a passion for something, keep going. [20:04] SPEAKER_01: Keep going. [20:05] SPEAKER_01: You're going to learn. [20:06] SPEAKER_01: And don't focus so much on the final result. [20:09] SPEAKER_01: You must be successful by this date. [20:11] SPEAKER_01: Focus on the journey and process improvement each step of the way. [20:14] SPEAKER_01: And enjoy the journey. [20:16] SPEAKER_01: Have fun with it. [20:17] SPEAKER_01: And try to keep it as balanced as possible because people do burn out. [20:20] SPEAKER_01: So, you know, as a health coach, I want to make sure that that is, is received. [20:24] SPEAKER_01: There was a great, I listened to someone and I can't remember who at this point, [20:29] SPEAKER_01: but they talked about the importance of paying attention out there. [20:33] SPEAKER_01: So you never know what's going to happen if you're paying attention. [20:36] SPEAKER_01: Great things can happen and constantly show wonder and on life. [20:40] SPEAKER_01: You know, be amazed, be thrilled with things, show excitement, and then tell others. [20:44] SPEAKER_01: So in your product messaging and your service, get that excitement and energy into what you do. [20:50] SPEAKER_01: And good things will happen. [20:52] SPEAKER_00: So here's this tropical island question, which you've listened, you might might have heard it. [20:57] SPEAKER_00: Yes. [20:57] SPEAKER_00: With a small tropical island, just off the EG, one phone booth, no internet. [21:03] SPEAKER_00: We drop you off there. [21:05] SPEAKER_00: Is there any food? [21:06] SPEAKER_01: That's the one thing no one needs to answer that. [21:09] SPEAKER_00: Well, there's a big sea. [21:11] SPEAKER_00: So you can. [21:12] SPEAKER_00: Oh, my fish. [21:13] SPEAKER_00: You don't have a computer. [21:15] SPEAKER_00: You don't have a smartphone or anything like that. [21:16] SPEAKER_00: She's. [21:17] SPEAKER_00: You can't you can use a phone booth located there anytime to call the boat back. [21:23] SPEAKER_00: How long would you last? [21:25] SPEAKER_01: Well, I was going to ask. [21:26] SPEAKER_01: I mean, if there's no food and water. [21:29] SPEAKER_00: There's food and water if you're prepared to work in it. [21:34] SPEAKER_01: Okay. [21:35] SPEAKER_01: And no books either. [21:36] SPEAKER_01: I can't even bring my books. [21:37] SPEAKER_01: No, no. [21:38] SPEAKER_01: If there's not a hammock either, not even a nice hammock, I'm not sure how long I'd last. [21:44] SPEAKER_01: Because even though I'm a survivor fan, I, you know, I watch it with the family. [21:47] SPEAKER_01: And I as a martial artist and I'm a pretty tough woman. [21:51] SPEAKER_01: I think I could stick it out. [21:53] SPEAKER_01: But at least they have a company and rice and you're competing for a million dollars. [21:57] SPEAKER_01: If it's just me and an island, I think I'd pick up that phone. [22:01] SPEAKER_01: I might sit by the ocean for a day. [22:04] SPEAKER_01: I do like, I do like my own solitude because I rarely get it. [22:08] SPEAKER_01: So just watching the awe of the ocean. [22:11] SPEAKER_01: But maybe I'd call the next day because I've got a lot of stuff to do. [22:14] SPEAKER_00: It might be three or four days for me. [22:18] SPEAKER_00: I'm a bit like that. [22:19] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not long. [22:20] SPEAKER_01: That's for sure. [22:21] SPEAKER_01: If I had books, I could stay a week. [22:23] SPEAKER_00: It's a great question because we get completely different answers. [22:26] SPEAKER_00: Yes, no, it's fun. [22:27] SPEAKER_01: It's fun. [22:28] SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
