Canadians know where they want to improve their health, but many may be overlooking one resource already available to help them do so. According to a recent RBC Insurance poll, working Canadians identified physical fitness (57%), diet and nutrition (48%) and sleep quality (47%) as their top health priorities. Yet financial pressures remain the biggest barrier to improving their overall wellbeing, contributing to declines in mental, physical and financial health compared to last year.
Many employees may be underutilizing workplace benefits that support preventative health, from nutrition counselling and mental health services to registered massage therapy that may help address stress, sleep and musculoskeletal issues before they become more significant health concerns.
